Zsófi Kemény: Poetry slam
– Hungary

A (slam) poet and an author born in 1994, daughter of the author István Kemény and sister to the poet Lili Kemény. Zsófi Kemény has an experience with writing songs and slam poetry. In 2015, she published her first poetry collection titled Nyílt láng használata (Using an Open Flame). In the words of Márton Simon: “The sound of this book is informed by the finest registers, even though the form of the texts deceive by its simplicity. The naturalism of the utterances grabs the reader like a raging torrent.” In 2014, she published a young adult novel titled Én még sosem (Never Have I Ever). Three years later, she published Rabok tovább (Go on Looting), a novel about passionate love and a spontaneous revolution. The true and wannabe heroes of the humour- and irony-packed book are trying to redeem themselves and their country in present-day Budapest.
